Join us for our legendary skate basics course – learn the foundations of skating over three months.
No experience necessary!
Cape Town Rollergirls and a team of experienced skaters will aim to teach you all the basics of quad roller skating, including:
– Stopping and falling safely
– Forward strides and cross-overs
– Backward skating and 180° turns
– and so much more!

Lessons begin on Thursday, 6 February 2025 and continue every Thursday evening for 12 weeks.
Additional self practice on the sidelines is available every Tuesday evening during the 12 weeks.
Time: 7–9pm (Thursdays & Tuesdays)
Duration: 12 weeks (Feb, March, April) with 12 lessons and 11 self practice sessions (23 opportunities to skate).
Last Tuesday will be the assessment for those who want to play roller derby.

Course fee: R440 per month (billed monthly) second and third month will be invoiced accordingly.
Additional cost to rent skates and/or protective gear: R120 per month (billed monthly) second and third month will be invoiced accordingly.
Please note your skates and safety gear fee covers rental for self practice evenings as well.
By purchasing this product you are paying for the first month only. You will then receive invoices for the remaining months with EFT or payment link details.
Must be 16+
Helmets + Safety Gear are mandatory.

If you’re learning to skate and not sure where your skate journey is taking you – welcome and we are happy to have you! If you’re learning with the intention of playing roller derby, this sport will change your life! It is hard work, and very rewarding. In order to qualify to take the final assessment and level up to our Derby Fundamentals course, you will need to attend minimum 80% of our learn to skate sessions.

Anyone participating in Cape Town Rollergirls (CTR) practice does so at their own risk.
I hereby irrevocably waive all claims against the Sunningdale Sports Complex and Cape Town Rollergirls for any damage or loss suffered as a consequence of my being a member of the league and arising out of (a) Death, bodily injury, loss of health or illness to me or any person and (b) loss or destruction to any property belonging to me or any other person however such loss or damage is caused, but not limited through the negligence of any such official, employee or representative of the Sunningdale Sports Complex or Cape Town Rollergirls. I particularly indemnify and hold harmless the Cape Town Rollergirls against all claims which may be made against it by me or my dependents or any one or more of them will specifically re-iterate that this indemnity shall be binding on my heirs, executors and assigns.
Refund policy:
Please note that cancellation prior to two weeks before the start date will result in an 80% refund. Cancellation between 14-7 days before the class starts at a 40% refund. Cancellation less than 7 days before the class begins will result in no refund.
