Hello, yes hello to you reading this profile. Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me and helping me reach my goal of travelling to Spain with the Iron Meisies.
I am Jo, JoJo or Micro Menace depending on where I meet you. I hail from a beautiful tiny town called White River in Mpumalanga and moved to Cape Town 6 months before we went into lockdown due to Covid. Covid made me realise I needed an activity or some type of sport to keep me busy which I could enjoy and meet new people. This is how my skating story started…
I bought my first pair of skates, as we were in the middle of lockdown, and was looking for someone to teach me and where I would have a safe space with teachers who would be willing to share their knowledge with me. I spent some time googling and trawling the internet and the first place that popped up was Cape Town Rollergirls. Since discovering the league (which is amazing by the way), I have made friends, learned new skills, grew in confidence, both on and off track, and have been blessed with an amazing community that supports one another.
I never thought I would have been lucky enough to have been chosen for our travel team and can not wait to learn from other players and show the rest of the world why South Africans are the best people in the world (I may be a bit biased saying this but it is true). If you have a bit to spare, please help me raise the funds to travel to Spain.
Please note that 25% of your contribution goes towards Cape Town Rollergirls’ costs for the Iron Meisies to get to Spain (accommodation, transport, etc), as well as processing fees.
The rest of the donation goes directly to the skater, towards whatever they need to get them and their skates to Spain.
